Overview
Inoculation Injuries and Sharps
Sharps injuries are common in a dental practice and may allow transmission of blood-borne viruses. Inoculation injuries can include needle-stick injuries, bites or scratches and splashes to the eye with infected materials.
The whole team within a dental practice is potentially at risk from inoculation injuries. Those who are most at risk are the clinical team. Therefore it is essential for all team members to receive full training and be aware of the potential dangers of transmission and the safe working procedures that must be adhered to at all times.
