Dental Training College's Certificate in Lead Nursing is split into five key units:

 

Unit 1: Understanding Lead Dental Nursing

Unit 2: Leadership Strategies for Highly Effective Lead Nurses

• Learn how to use strategic measuring tools to facilitate effective leadership and people management.
• Discover the benefits good leadership and people operations have on the smooth running of the nursing team.
• Understand effective communication methods for dealing with difficult people and difficult conversations.

 

Unit 3: Human Resources for Productive Nursing Teams

• Learn how to interview and onboard new members of staff successfully.
• Discover essential compliance and the appropriate policies, protocols and procedures.
• Understand the important benefits of a good staff appraisal for both your practice and your team.
• Learn how to implement regular daily huddles and staff meetings, find out useful topics for discussion and how to steer the meeting in a positive direction.
• Master techniques for overseeing poor staff performance and grievances.

 

Unit 4: CQC and Compliance Management

• Explore the function of the CQC and their effect on compliance management.
• Understand the CQC's 5 key lines of enquiry and the nurses role of implementation.
• Understand the requirements in meeting the GDC standards in practice.

 

Unit 5: The Art of Effective Communication

• Discover why effective communication is key to any lead nurse's success.
• Learn the fundamentals of effective communication within the role of a lead nurse.
• Explore and learn how to master the different types of communication.
• Learn how to maximise your communication skills and improve its effect on your dental practice and your team.

 

Although there is no specified time limit, studied part time this course can be completed within 1 month.

You can start as soon as your enrolment is processed and you receive your course pack (typically within 3 -5 days).

This is a distance-based course with tutor support included; learners will be provided with a hard copy of learning and assessment materials which they will receive typically within 3 -5 days of enrolment. Of course, all our support services are also provided as needed.
